The first type of customization option I want to look at is the ability to customize how you want your software to work. This can be done in a number of ways, but I would like to look at two different kinds of customization options:
1) Customized reports – These are those reports which allow us (as sales reps) access information about our own performance. It's also important that these include all relevant data and not just what we might need for some specific task. The most common type of report that comes with this kind, as well as the historical one, will show me all my previous actions performed on each customer so I know exactly what I have done and what's left to do.

This is something that I think a lot of companies struggle with, and it's very easy to do, so whenever someone mentions this issue in the comments on my blog, then I always try and help them out.
The reason for this is because there are many different ways we can reduce our order-to-cash cycle as sales reps, but one that seems to work best for most people (when looking at all the data) seems to be doing things like:
1) Setting up automatic emails – This allows us (as sales reps) to send an email automatically after every sale has been made or even after every time we log into our CRM system. This email can then go to the customer who has purchased from us and give them more information about what they've bought, why they should buy it again or even tell them that their order is ready for collection!
2) Automating orders – By doing this then, you're able to automate all of your order-to-cash operations which means that everything will be done automatically without any input on your part (as a sales rep).
3) Collecting payments online - I know there are many different payment options out there, but the one that I find to work best is PayPal. This means that you're able to collect payments online, which will help reduce the amount of time it takes for your customer's order-to-cash cycle (as a sales rep) and also make sure that all money received by your company goes straight into your bank account, so there are no delays in receiving cash from customers.
4) Receiving orders via email – Many companies now offer their products through email, and then this allows us as sales reps to receive our orders via email rather than having them come directly into our CRM system. Again, this means that we can then send out automated emails to our customers about their order and also make sure that all money received by your company goes straight into your bank account, so there are no delays in receiving cash from customers.
