Sales philosophies are a set of principles that guide one's thoughts and actions to be applied in the process of selling goods or services.

It stems from the ability to draw, correlate and understand the relationship between the organization's mission statement and its goal of satisfying customer needs.

What Are Sales Philosophies?

A sales philosophy is a set of general guidelines used by an individual or company to achieve success in selling their products.

It can be thought of as the ideas and beliefs that provide the foundation for how business owners approach what they do, how they treat their customers, and even how they market themselves.

The goal of any sales philosophy is to help drive sales through solid strategies that are focused on specific outcomes. For example, you might have a sales philosophy that totals focused on increasing your closing rates at all costs.

Alternatively, you could also have one that prioritizes reducing customer attrition instead. To determine which approaches will work best for your own business, it's important to first consider what you hope to accomplish with your actions before finding the best way to get there.

The Anatomy Of Sales Philosophies

The anatomy of sales philosophies include

1) Need: We live our lives needing stuff and we constantly search for things we need like food, shelter, clothes, transportation and company of someone we can form an emotional bond with. The things we need are called Needs.

2) Goal: Goal is what you want. It comes from your personal purpose which might be influenced by your values or belief system or even something that happened in your past. Goals give meaning to everything you do because they help you achieve something.

3) Objectives: Objectives are what you do to reach your goals. They show the steps that will be taken to achieve your goal. An example is reading a book on sales and applying what you learned from the book in your daily routine, this is an objective.

4) Actions: Actions define how you proceed with each step of achieving your goal and objectives.

If you decide to be a salesperson, an action could be cold calling which involves dialing random phone numbers until someone picks up then talking to them about their need for certain products or services offered by your company.

Once they find reason as to why they need it, then you would go into pitching mode where both parties agree upon a price and formality of payment. This is an action you can apply if your goal is to sell something.

5) Selling: Selling is the act of convincing another individual to agree with your position or view on certain things like beliefs, attitudes, behaviors and other things.

The word selling means “transfer” in the sense that what the seller wants to transfer into someone else's head is knowledge about how they can benefit from a particular product at a particular price.

It may sound simple but it takes many years for aspiring salespeople to fully grasp this concept because there are times when you will have failed in persuading someone to buy your product even when you know clearly that their needs are met based on what they told you about themselves earlier.

It is a daily battle between two opposing forces, selling and resistance. If you fail to realize the odds against you then you will end up losing because selling is about winning people from their current state of mind into supporting your position.

6) Attitude: The way one feels or behaves toward someone or something that causes them to form an opinion based on how they feel.

Salespeople have a hard time finding work because there are companies out there who only hire candidates with a positive attitude.

This means if you have a bad temperament or disposition which affects your relationship with other people working for your company, then it would be really hard to find a job in this field unless these people could tolerate your negative personality.

7 Competence: The quality of being competent is having the ability to get things done effectively.

Salespeople are often described by their colleagues and friends in this particular term because there is a certain level of proficiency in performing tasks and duties given to them in order to reach certain goals and objectives.

8) Communication: When we talk about communication we mean exchanging information between two or more people so they could understand each other well enough before proceeding with further actions.

This exchange can be verbal or non-verbal but both parties involved will be able to comprehend what the other person wants to convey.

Without good communication, you would just end up wasting your time because even if one party understands the message the sender intended for them, if they cannot exactly pull out that message then it would all be for nothing.

If you are a salesperson, your employer expects you to be fluent in your chosen language like English or Japanese and proficient in communicating with people from different walks of life.

9) Empathy: The ability to feel what other people feel is called empathy.

This means if there is someone who does not know how to empathize with others, then they might end up hurting that person unintentionally because they do not understand where that other party is coming from or what makes them tick as an individual.

These types of people might say something without thinking first and the effect would be devastating on another person's feelings leading them into depression and other mental illnesses brought about by such experiences.

While this sounds quite dramatic, most people who do not know how to connect with other people become the objects of ridicule and scorn by most people because they lack the compassion and understanding needed to see things from someone else's perspective.

10) Techniques: A technique is a form of procedure or practice that you can apply in order to solve a problem or achieve your goals and objectives.

When it comes to sales, this means getting into the head of your prospect and knowing what they want or need so that you could convince them effectively.

The more persuasive you are, the greater chance you have at pushing through deals for your company as long as there is no fraud involved on your end (selling as if something is real but it’s fake Getting into their heads is an integral part of sales because you have to understand how your prospects think and what they want compared to the needs of your company.

Without this knowledge, it would be hard for a salesperson to really close a deal unless their product or service is something that people truly need without them having to make a strong case for it.

This is actually one of the reasons why there are many products out there which do not sell because companies try too hard in convincing people to buy their products through extravagant marketing campaigns that aim at getting as much attention as possible from consumers rather than tailoring their message into something that benefits both parties instead.

One must keep in mind that every sale you complete means money from your commission so being good at closing deals will bring more profits into your company.

The seller needs to ask the questions which would guide them to find out what they can offer to their customer instead of thinking only about the money that will be earned from closing a deal.

Techniques are important in sales because these could help you get into someone's head and know exactly what makes them tick as a person allowing you to become more persuasive during your presentations which could bring more deals into your company.

This is why it is recommended for those who want to have a successful career as a salesperson or even those who just want to close more deals should learn how to use different techniques which could really help you understand other people better, allowing you time and opportunities when it comes down to making an effective presentation for your prospects so they would be more open to buying your product or service.

11) Skills: There are different types of skills and depending on what type you have, these could help or hinder you in achieving your goals and objectives as a salesperson.

One example of this is the ability to network with other people as long as they would be willing to introduce you to someone who can buy their products or services.

This would mean that you need not do all the legwork by yourself because if there is someone who knows how things work especially when it comes to meeting new people, then there's no reason for them not to support you instead.

The same goes for those who use cold calling as a means of conducting research about potential customers and existing clients so that they could create a list of prospects which they could call on.

This is an important skill because this would allow you to get in touch with new people without you having to go through the hassle of calling one by one just to introduce yourself and speak with them about some products or services that they need.

Cold calling is especially useful when it comes to B2B sales where most businesses deal with other businesses rather than consumers so cold calling can be instrumental in meeting clients who will become potential customers for your business.

It's not easy though but if there are skills which you don't know how to use, then these should be fixed as soon as possible since knowing how things work combined with getting information about what you need before making a move could really help your career greatly.

Conclusion

Another thing that you should never forget when it comes to selling is authority because this could lead you to getting higher sales which in return would make your name more popular in the industry instead of having a hard time with creating deals.

The simplest way for one to get authority is by receiving awards or certificates from different institutions which do not come easy since there are only few people who are given the chance to fill out forms and provide information about their product, service, company, etc.

Since these forms are accredited by certain associations or organizations, then there must be something special about your company if they gave out an award just after completing simple requirements.

Another way for you to gain authority is by being recognized as an expert in dealing with specific services or products and even in certain industries.

You can achieve this by having a well-known reputation among your peers and the people you work with so that they would know what to expect from you and they can say for sure whether or not they deem you trustworthy enough to deal with.

If possible, it is recommended for those who sell their products or services online to create an image as someone who knows how things work when making transactions through their site as one of the most effective ways to gain authority is by creating trust between buyers and sellers.

This could be done by giving out important information about your company such as contact details, physical address, contact persons, etc.

Aside from fully describing all the information which users need before buying your products or signing up with your service, you should also make sure that your site is fully secured with all important details encrypted so that people can trust your company.

If having an image as a salesperson is not enough for you then it's also recommended to have a website or blog where users could find all the information needed about your products and services including the prices which are slightly higher than others in order for them to know that they're buying from someone who provides better service instead of dealing with people who are just selling cheap but low quality products.

This would be easier if you have good SEO skills since this involves making sure that your content gets distributed through different websites so search engines think you're popular enough to create more traffic on your own site thus increasing the number of people who visit your site and purchase what you're selling.

It's also important for you to have a perfect system where people could easily find whatever they're looking for on your website without having to spend time searching through all of your pages so that users will surely return to your site again if ever they need another product or service from you.
