How to setup DMARC?

DMARC is an email authentication, authorization and policy implementation mechanism that provides a defence against email spoofing.

It allows you to authenticate the sender of an email message, verify that the message has not been modified in transit and deter email-based attacks.

What is DMARC?

Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance.

DMARC is a protocol that can be used by email receivers to verify if an email has been sent by the sender of an email address.

This protocol prevents mail from being spoofed and phishing attacks.

How to setup DMARC in Under 5 minutes?

Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance (DMARC) is a protocol that allows email senders to communicate the strength of their domain's authentication to recipients.

By setting DMARC up properly, your email will be much more secure, but it is surprisingly easy to set up and can have a big impact on your company's email hygiene.

In order to set up DMARC, you'll need three pieces of information:

- The sender's email address (the domain)

- The recipient's email address (the domain)

- A TXT record that contains your organization's policy settings

Once you have these details, follow these steps to set up DMARC:

1. Create a TXT record for your organization's policy settings by going to dmarc.org and clicking the "Create TXT Record" button.

2. In the resulting dialog, provide your organization's domain (the sender's email address) and recipient domain (the receiver's email address).

3. Click "Submit" to finish creating the record.

4. Go to your MX Records tab in Google Domains and add a new A record for your organization with its proper IP address (you can get this information by looking at your ISP's DNS records).

5. Copy the sender's email address that you found on dmarc.org and paste it into the "From:" field in your MX record.

6. Copy the recipient's email address that you found on dmarc.org and paste it into the "To:" field in your MX record, replacing the @yourdomain.com part with the domain of the recipient.

7. Click "Save Changes" to save your changes and exit Google Domains.

8. Complete these steps for every email address in your organization that you want to send DMARC-protected emails from, using either the sender's or recipient's full domain name (not just their username).

9. Go back to DMARC. If you're using Microsoft Office 365 consider setting up DMARC for Office 365.

How DMARC works?

DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance) is a technology that is designed to make email more secure by securing email messages as they transit the network.

DMARC works by verifying the source and suppressing fraudulent messages in a given email account.

How to send a DMARC policy to your active mail servers?

DMARC stands for Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance.

DMARC is a standard that allows you to control how email traffic leaves your domain and provides protection against the "phishing" of your emails.

In order to send DMARC policies to your active mail servers, you need to create two records on your domain: the "DMARC TXT record" and the "DMARC A RECORD".

The "DMARC TXT record" is used as a reporting mechanism. When an email message is received by your mail server, it will check the DMARC TXT record associated with that account in our DNS system.

How to query a domain for a DMARC policy?

Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance (DMARC) is a mechanism designed to authenticate email traffic and enforce policies, such as SPF, DKIM, and DMARC in email.

DMARC policies are configured on the sending domain side of email.

Why should you implement it?

Domain-based messaging authentication and reporting can be used to reduce spam, phishing and other security risks with a simple configuration change.

If you are looking for a way to protect your brand's reputation and increase the security of your domain email, then DMARC is the solution for you!
