GetResponse offers a lot more features than ConvertKit, but ConversionKit has very few limitations compared to its competitor. The biggest difference between these two platforms lies within their capabilities when it comes to tracking results. You can monitor everything from opens, clicks, unsubscribes/unsubscribe rates and so on with both services.

The automation features of GetResponse and ConvertKit are quite similar. Both tools allow you to import subscribers, export contacts, create users within their platform (and send newsletters manually), schedule autoresponders etc.
But there is one more thing that makes the difference between these two tools – the way they integrate with other services in order for them to work properly.
ConvertKit lets you add your email list into an existing system such as Gmail or Google Apps account, while GetResponse only allows entry via a dedicated mailing tool.
This means that if you want to use both systems at once (although this is not a bad idea since the GetResponse mailing tool is quite powerful), you will have to make sure that your account has been properly configured in ConvertKit.
Both tools offer several pricing plans, but they are divided according to different levels of automation and services included. There are three basic types of plans – ""Basic"", ""Small"" and ""Lite"". The prices vary depending on which plan you choose (the differences between them look small at first glance, but there's actually one very significant difference).
Convertkit has a free plan, and you get 5,000 subscribers for every paid account that you have. Getresponse is also free to use with limited features available and only one contact per email address being able to send emails. And if your server crashes or there's any unexpected maintenance work required, it can be costly to recover from those situations!
Finally, the monthly cost of both services is around $10 USD/month (3% discount rate), which isn't bad considering their functionality and ease of use.
GetResponse offers the ability to segment your subscribers, allowing you to group them into categories and allocate different types of messages for each one. This is particularly useful if you are trying to increase response rates by sending a specific type of message at certain times. Here's some background information about how Getresponse does this:
Both tools offer an analytics dashboard, but Getresponse takes the cake on this one! They offer more detailed analysis and reporting than Convertkit does, including bounce rate by country as well as other interesting information such as segment data.
If it's possible to have too much info at your fingertips, then maybe they should consider offering unlimited reports or something like that instead of "only" 5 free reports per day! One thing we've noticed with both services (but get more information with Convertkit) is how they are quite similar in the analytics department.
For example, we noticed that Getresponse had converted a few of our subscribers from their free trial to paid status because these conversions have been tracked and emailed us – this was an interesting discovery since it didn't happen at all when using the other service!
We have noticed that the Convertkit workflow is more intuitive and easier to use, especially when it comes to managing your email campaigns. For example, in their interface, you can easily add new subscribers or existing ones by clicking on "+ New Subscriber" - no need for a specific drop-down menu!
Another thing we like about converting with ConvertKit is that you also get access to some simple HTML/CSS code editor – this feature was completely missing from Getresponse as well!

Both services offer a very similar set of conversion funnels. GetResponse has the following, which is also available in Convertkit as well (with minor differences): Email Opt-in 6 different types (free trial)
Emails can be segmented by email type and subscribed customers By date or time. You can use this feature to send campaigns to your subscribers on certain days/times. You can also use it to send separate campaigns based on the time of day that visitors come in.
Both services offer very similar templates and conversion funnels, but there are some differences.
In GetResponse, you can use templates for lead capture pages and campaigns. In Convertkit, there are only four campaign templates that come with the free plan, but if you go over 20k subscribers per month, then they offer additional advanced templates like video ads, etc.
For both services, it is possible to create completely customized landing pages with funnels based on your current conversion rates & conversions. This will allow you to send a specific page or email within these funnels at a later date depending on people's actions from previous visits (similarly how Google does things).
The difference between the two services is that GetResponse allows you to upload more images and design your page manually, while Convertkit gives you a pre-designed template with customizable options.
Both services provide many tools for tracking conversions (both leads and email subscribers). One major difference between them is that in their free plan, they don't have advanced analytics like conversion funnels or eCommerce links.
For example, Getresponse doesn't allow users of their paid plans to access the ''webinar'' reports which are really useful when looking at how people interact with your webinar or video.
Convertkit offers an ''analytics'' tool (not to be confused with the analytics that they offer on their paid plans), but it only allows you to view your subscriber's actions from one email per month and then view a list of emails in a clickable format so you can see how many people opened each email.
GetResponse has no built-in marketing tools. However, they do allow you to integrate with your favorite social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
They also have an API that allows you the ability to import subscriber data from other services (like MailChimp) directly into their system, so if anyone signs up via another service, then it's automatically added into Getresponse. They call this ''track-to''.
Convertkit also offers many ways of importing your email lists, such as Mailchimp or Aweber, but unlike GetResponse, they don't provide a way for people who sign up through your website to be automatically added into Convertkit.
So we can see that ConvertKit is clearly a more advanced email marketing tool and offers some great features not available with GetResponse at all (in our opinion).
Another thing that makes us prefer the platform over its competitor is support - while both of them offer chat on their website, only ConvertKit has a phone number to call – this means you get live help when you need it! We also love how much information they provide about your subscribers, including their social profiles and business info like companies they work for.
Well, we think that if your business has more than a few subscribers, then it's probably best to go with ConvertKit. If you're just starting out or small scale and don't have much traffic, then GetResponse can be better for you as they are cheaper (especially if all of your traffic comes from Facebook ads).
But, if you use both of these email marketing services and want the best of all worlds, then we recommend this one. It's a great platform to grow your business with!
