As these incredibly successful hilarious films demonstrate, marketing your business does not have to be a serious business.

However, while utilising humour to promote your products and services, you must be careful to strike the correct note, or you risk upsetting a huge portion of your target audience.

If you're thinking about including humour into your next content marketing campaign, these six outstanding examples of well-done hilarious videos will help.

Each one is genuinely entertaining, but they also ensure that the main marketing message and target audience are not lost in the midst of the laughs...

1. Simply Perfect Marketing (Funny Videos)

There are times when two cows standing on a bank, looking at the river, are all that is required.

Simply Perfect Marketing created this fantastic one-minute animation to demonstrate the lengths to which some individuals (or cows) will go to get the appropriate information through.

We see two cows staring at an inert grey item in the lake in front of them after the intro mist clears. It looks like a crocodile (or an alligator) to Cow One.

We're not sure what the distinction is, especially in cartoon form). Cow Two is adamant that it's a log.

By standing on it, Cow One eventually demonstrates their position is correct, with unavoidable consequences. Simply Perfect Marketing's services are advertised by Cow Three.

To make a clear and appealing marketing video, you don't need flashy visuals, music, or even spoken words. We get the impression from this little video that this organisation fully understands what we're talking about.

2. Dollar Shave Club (Funny Videos)

The spoof for Dollar Shave Club begins with a typical founder's YouTube video. Mike introduces himself and his razor firm, and then his catchphrase completely deflates the otherwise pleasant cover.

Mike takes us on a tour of his razor factory after declaring "Our blades are f***ing excellent," maintaining a straight face the entire time while we're bombarded with funny sales videos and parodic asides at a rate faster than a classic Airplane movie.

And at the conclusion, we've been convinced that Dollar Shave Club is a viable product with a compelling USP, and that we should purchase it.

This short film is an excellent illustration of how a comedy sketch can nevertheless convey important information. It also demonstrates the value of YouTube as a marketing tool — image That Word in a television commercial...

3. PooPourri (Funny Videos)

With this one, where do we even begin? PooPourri is a handbag-size spray that you carry with you to disguise odours that are unavoidable yet unpleasant (a posh, high-tech air freshener).

If you have a scatological matter to discuss, there's no point in being shy - and the company certainly doesn't hold back.

The juxtaposition of the gorgeous, RP-speaking narrator in her antique gown charmingly trilling out phrases like "You'll not believe the motherload I've just dropped," and "laid a brick" – against improper social settings is the source of the comedy.

"Yes, this is a real product," she purrs, just as you think it's a joke. We were beginning to have doubts.

That's a lot of poo discussion at nearly two minutes.

However, you will leave knowing exactly how the product works (it forms a film of sweet-smelling substance over the water in the toilet bowl, in case you were wondering), how much it costs, where to get it, and how to obtain your "stink-free guarantee."

It's far longer than a traditional commercial, demonstrating how a YouTube ad allows you more flexibility.

4. Laugh-Out-Loud Video: Dallas Zoo

Isn't it true that the internet was designed for animal videos? So, if you're in the animal business, it's only natural to use them. This (far too) short video provides you a behind-the-scenes look at the Dallas Zoo.

The title is "Breakdancing Gorilla," and the fact that he's in a paddling pool is an added bonus.

Before the action switches to the zoo's logo, we get a 28-second clip of Zola busting some moves in the water.

The accompanying language is crucial in this case since it tells us that Zola is "demonstrating play behaviours" in a "enrichment session." They're telling us that the zoo is concerned.

But this is something we could watch for hours. There's no fancy editing, no entertaining music, no witty commentary — just this magnificent creature in a state of bliss.

The zoo's objective and key selling point are presented in this short, no-frills video; nevertheless, we understand that if your organisation doesn't have a dancing gorilla as an asset, it will be more difficult to use this strategy.

5. Tripp and Tyler / Zoom / Funny Videos

The job of Tripp and Tyler is to create corporate videos. So there's no need to worry, people.

The scenario is "A real-life video conference call." We've just read the title, but we're already sympathising. It's a little long at 3:24, but stick with it. There's a joke about pants.

The sketch is set up as a conference call in a meeting room, complete with all of the usual meltdowns (bad connections, diversions, and terrible manners) taking place in plain view.

After three agonising minutes, we're told that if they'd used Zoom meetings software for their conference, this wouldn't have happened.

If you have the funds, this example demonstrates how paying experienced writers/actors to make your advertisement results in something polished and witty.

It's truly revolting, and it beautifully encapsulates everything we despise about (non-Zoom) conference calls.

We're crying for mercy from these horrible folks towards the end, and we want to sign up for Zoom so this never happens to us at work again.

Virtual Web Productions 6: Funny Videos

With a running time of 4:25, this is as near to a YouTube ad as you can get. To advertise their marketing video, internet marketing, and website design services, Virtual Web Productions use a vox pop strategy.

The issue on which they demonstrate their video-making abilities is SEO (another one of their speciality services). Jessi Riese of Virtual Web Productions takes the microphone to the streets and coffee shops to see what people know about SEO.

As we hear people's perspectives on traditional advertising versus Google, it's wryly humorous rather than laugh-out-loud funny.

There's also a storey about Dotty the Dog and her internet-inspired moniker, just to make sure the internet-essential animal aspect is included.

It's a fascinating watch to watch.

Whether the interviewees are real, staged, or actors, the comments they make on how they utilise search engines on a daily basis are extremely useful for anyone working in online marketing (just about everyone with a business).

VWP employs the Q&A format to illustrate their own expertise and non-patronizing approach, hence enhancing their ad's credibility.

SEO, by the way, is for "Santa's Express Operations."

Which one did you find the most amusing?

These six hilarious videos demonstrate that marketing doesn't have to be serious to be effective - but it does require a delicate balance to get the tone exactly right. This is where excellent writing comes into play.

While we wouldn't encourage employing comedy in everything you do (especially if it's completely unrelated to your business - 'Funny Funerals' anyone?! ), adding a few laughs to your marketing mix now and then could pay off.

Who knows, you might wind up laughing all the way to the bank if you give it a shot (I'll be here all week, etc.).

Hopefully, this collection of funny sales videos movies will brighten your day and help you refocus your energy on what you do best, which is closing sales. Return to see us whenever you need a pick-me-up or want to burn some calories ROFL.
